Knitting

After being taught to knit by my nan when I was about six, in Plymouth, England, where I was born and grew up, I returned to it in 2024 and became obsessed! After meeting a Scottish sailor in 2001, we moved to a town in the North of Scotland, where we married and grew our family, and where I spend my time with bamboo needles and yarn.

I especially love vintage knitting, and learning about the knitting traditions of cultures and eras. My favourite things to knit are lace shawls and scarves. I am drawn to prairie style, pastoral and cottagecore knits: feminine pieces that reflect a simple life, nostalgia, and old-fashioned domesticity. At the moment, my attention is focused on pieces with domestic history: headscarves for housework, shawls for cooler days, and blankets for evenings reading and knitting by candlelight.
